AAHGS takes great pride in sponsoring the International AAHGS Book Awards® (IABA) program as part of its mission to document and disseminate research throughout the world on the struggles, successes, challenges, and contributions of African Americans in American and International history/genealogy. The IABA® team strives to recognize and encourage literary works in a wide range of topics for all ages that nurture African-Ancestored insights, ethnicity, civilization, and human situations. Our goal is to enhance the popularity of winning authors and promote the achievement of their writings.
Books are critiqued in the combined areas of scholarly research; book cover and interior design; promotional text; aesthetic components and other factors that demonstrate outstanding presentation; in addition to the written word. Anyone, regardless of race or national origin, who has authored a book relating to African Americans in the United States and beyond is eligible to apply.
The IIABA® team consists of individuals from a variety of backgrounds that contribute their time, abilities, and energy to become acquainted with the content of the literary book submissions and prepare for the ceremony festivities.
