About this event

This workshop is designed to make simple the complex and complicated world for those researching African family history. The workshop will explore how to trace your ancestry by accessing vital records like birth certificates, marriage licenses, and census data. Participants will be guided through a systematic process of working backwards through generations to build a family tree. Experienced genealogists and family historians with expertise in tracing African American lineage will be on site to provide research advice and tips. In partnership with AARR Houston, this workshop is being offered.
